Martin Margiela allies haute couture with ecology and laboratory
From a sport’s bag he makes an impeccable multicut jacket.
From silk scarves randomly cut out in thin strap, he knits a naked back
dress. From tennis shoes, he manufactures a waistcoat and collects on
markets amateur fabrics (a bit prettiest than the crusts, rural landscapes
primarily), he unnails them from their frames and resews together three
or four of these works in mini dresses. It is charming. Same step for
the accessory. Margiela sticks leather bands on a plastic vanity case
or a rigid bag.
At Martin Margiela, finally, the parts which were supposed to be single
are manufactured in several specimens all slightly disparate.
