Trained in Anvers, nurtured by Hedi Slimane whose assistant he was for ten years: Kris Van Assche’s first show was almost as eagerly expected as the Dior Homme collection. Translating his former mentor’s slim, almost corseted aesthetics into his own stylistic proposition must’ve been quite a challenge. Kris Van Assche passed it with flying colours, under the scrutiny of a fashion-star studded audience. Slender jackets worn on revisited workers’ overalls, combat pants and street-wear hoodies, impeccably cut chevron wool overcoats… And three sexagenarian models to close the show: a declaration of intention for a new maturity.
