A ceiling hung with upside-down umbrellas, hot Pimm’s cocktail and cucumber sandwiches announce the gout du jour: it’s to be British. Hovering between glam rock and Bowie’s Thin White Duke era, with an exclusively Roxy Music soundtrack, Dries Van Noten sends out his genteelly rocking gentlemen in a mix of pinstripes and ocelot print furs – notably an eminently desirable fur-lined overcoat – and python-print trousers with a big grey ribbed turtleneck week-end sweater… Bryan Ferry as a tutelary figure of virile chic brushed with a light whiff of decadence: well done, well worn.
