Défilés on line Dries van Noten ...at the Ecole Supérieure Nationale des Beaux-Arts For his « Salvador Dali at the beach » inspired
collection, the Antwerp designer literally put out the flags, decking
the main hall of the Paris Beaux-Art with medieval Flemish banners. A
full-blown chamber orchestra was commandeered to render a specially commissioned
piece composed by his compatriot Piet Goddaer, a.k.a. Ozark Henry. From
Hispanic concerto – referring, perhaps, to the Spanish conquest
of Flanders – to symphonic electro-ballad, this musical environment
languorously accompanies Dries’ subtle creations. His manifest inspiration
never veers into anecdote: a re-interpreted bullfighter’s chaqueta,
guipure lace accents peeping from underneath a jacket, muleta-red trench-coats,
Moorish embroideries lightly set on a pant-leg or a sweater, strict Manoleta
suits sliding on Moroccan slippers: Dries tenderly traces his silhouettes
in shade, sand and blood. Press : Sandrine Serre, Bonnie Morrison
