Défilés on line Haute Couture
Eté06 Hiver06-07 … au Palais de la Découverte Anticipating the calendar by a season – but fitting
in neatly with January frost – Felipe Oliveira Baptista opened the
couture shows on Monday with a winter collection. The designer pursues
his study of Modernism with a sleek Op Art inspiration – black and
white racing flag checks – punctuated with wing-shaped collar-sleeves
and stiff undulating frills, bringing to mind Sixties pioneer Pierre Cardin’s
sculptured experiments. Modified Vidal Sassoon bowl cuts with zigzag bangs
echo the asymmetry of sleeveless jackets with twisted frog ties coursing
diagonally from shoulder to hip. A harness of patch pockets replaces both
ornament and handbag on fleet silhouettes. Photos: Arnaud Baumann Press: Sylvie Grumbach / 2ème Bureau
