How can Valentino ever be replaced? After 45 years in fashion, the Roman maestro has already set the date of his last couture collection, in January 2006, and the house is officially looking for a successor. A doubly difficult challenge in the present context of designer waltzes, and above all, considering the fashion superstar’s scope. His art of placing a bow or a tulle muff on an evening dress, of working a sleeve or a ruffle, his fabulous handling of ornament are all irreplaceable. Valentino has perfected his language to the extreme and if he doesn’t have a thing to prove, he know how to renew its perfect desirability from season to season.
