Her stylised creatures, inlaid on saturated coloured backgrounds, have appeared in the pages of I-D, Citizen K and Vogue Italia. Sophie Delaporte is also an artist whose photographic language draws its sources in the surrealism of Magritte and Delvaux. For the Marion Meyer Gallery – which also represents illustrious elders Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray, who was also a fashion photographer in his day – Sophie Delaporte, 33, has created a series of trompe-l’oeil juxtapositions. Fragments of sky and wallpaper, torn photos and grass blades intertwine in a play of shadows and planes. Graceful, dynamic and slightly uncanny. D.B.
