Mark Seliger, “The Platinum Show”

Platinum as in records or Debby Harry’s hair, platinum as in Mark Seliger’s black and white prints… Fifteen years as one of Rolling Stone’s photographers and now part of Condé Nast’s star portraitist stable with Steven Meisel, Bruce Weber, Irving Penn and Annie Leibovitz : Mark Seliger knows the music. He’s shot video clips for the likes of Willie Nelson, Elvis Costello, Hole or his old friend Lenny Kravitz, who encouraged him to compose. But the rock’n’roll sounding “Platinum Show” goes further with an essay on contemporary icons for the Parisian Acte 2 gallery, in a sumptuous series of portraits – of rock myths Mick Jagger, Keith Richards or Paul McCartney, among others – nudes and still lives. Fifty original platinum prints in the greatest photographic tradition.
